His name is Jesus.
He is born of God. He is God. But humanly speaking, He was a carpenter’s son ( we all know his true nature) — an ordinary local man living under the powerful Roman Empire. Yet He carried a message for the world. What Jesus began in faith, He completed in faith, trusting fully in God, His Father.
He chose twelve ordinary men and formed them into a close-knit community to reflect His life and work. Though one failed, the mission did not. From a small, humble group came a message that still carries power, truth, and love more than 2,000 years later.
But Jesus did not call everyone in the same way. One healed man wanted to follow Him, but Jesus said, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” (Mark 5:19). His mission was not to walk with the twelve, but to witness where he belonged.
Some are called to public ministry; many are called to be faithful witnesses in ordinary places. Not all are pastors or leaders, but all have a story. What do you have to share about Jesus today?
Your ordinary life may be part of God’s extraordinary mission.
