In The Dark Cave

In The Dark Cave

A story tells of thousands of golden ducks trapped in a cave, waiting to be eaten by giant spiders. At first they huddled together. But as fear grew, they began sacrificing the weak to delay their own deaths. Survival exposed their hearts.

So it was on the RMS Titanic. When disaster struck, some prayed, some panicked, and some clung to wealth and position. Crisis reveals what comfort conceals. We are not so different. We cling to a life we never asked for, fearing its loss, scrambling to be last rather than first. Yet we hold only a torn page of a much greater story. God alone sees the whole book. The end of all striving is simple: fear God.

Lord, when fear rises in me, turn my heart back to You. Teach me to trust the One who holds the whole story. Amen.

“The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” — Ecclesiastes 12:13 (ESV)
